OMG!!! They read my mind!!

"Repurposing a 1954 vintage Bellwood Aloha trailer into a hip mobile vintage boutique. Available for markets, parties, festivals, special events, house calls, photo shoots and even styling."

I found this great idea on a site called Punky Style - yeah, no kidding! Punky and WONDERFUL!!

As you will notice in the posting from yesterday - a few 5th wheels with beautiful interiors caught my attention. And as I was daydreaming, I thought how cool it would be to have a cute little shoppe in a 5th wheel... and then WHAMO - today, I bump right into one...well, on-line anyway.

I hope you are enjoying the theme because I have been saving it, but now I must share... my next post will also have a 5th wheel with a very sweet surprise! Come to think of it, some folks may see that one before they get to this one, but discovery is wonderful no matter the order.

As for the little shop above, I believe that is called Haberdash and is located in Worcester, MA. I could not find much about the gal, or the dialogue about how the concept came about but I did find fun photos and the blog, so here you go! Enjoy

Now I need a 5th Wheel

These wonderful 5th wheels are wallpapered by Swedish wallpaper company DecorMaison. To celebrate the new collection due in September, DecorMaison created special little places to escape from the outside world. The collection is called Oas, or Oasis in English and was designed by Teija Bruhn. Simply beautiful.
The beauty of blogging is that in my quest to discover new wonderful things, I bump into other GREAT blogs! I originally discovered the photos of these "remodeled" trailers on redhousedesign.blogspot.com, then followed the link to emmas.blog.se. Both amazing!
I am sure that there is a clever way to link to the other blogs but in the mean time click below.

The Art of Cake

I have never seen anything so inspirational on a cake plate. I have been know to obsess over the beauty of baked goods but today's post on Design*Sponge made my heart flutter!!

I can not explain... I am still reeling! Check out the link-
"caitlin williams (a former co-owner of the famed miette patisserie) is now creating art-inspired sweets for the blue bottle coffee bar at sfmoma’s new rooftop sculpture garden. "

Just around the corner

It is still sunny and beautiful here in Portland, and I would image that we will still have at least 1 more month of summer weather - but Fall Fashion is tempting me to flip the switch!

Take a look at DKNY's Fall 2009 RTW collection - I love it!

As tiresome as it's become to view everything through recession-colored glasses, with a smart-priced commercial collection like DKNY, that really is the only appropriate lens. In addition to investing in that one special luxury item this season, the designer customer will want to stretch her dollar like a pair of sample-sale Louboutins. With that in mind, Karan and company built Fall on wearable looks pulled together from top to toe—or, more specifically, from funny little felt hat to lace-up spectator bootie, with sleek gloves and a rainbow of oversize envelope clutches and cavernous carryalls in between. Modern, grown-up polish was the name of the game. Pencil skirts ended mid-calf; waists were neatly belted; and trim, boxy coats had bracelet sleeves. Clashing patterns—houndstooths, stripes, a blown-up plaid—kept things from looking too mature or too vintage (though I did find myself idly wondering when the next season of Mad Men is going to begin). Ultimately, this was a true autumn collection, with loads of merch from outerwear to scarves to knits to pants, not all of it skewed to a more soigné lady. Moms and daughters shopping together should take a look: They might finally agree on something.

Maiden Voyage

Here it is, the very first posting - my very own blog! It seems a bit daunting, but I am going to give it a try.

I've thought about writing a blog for a long time. Friends have encouraged me to share my personal style pointers, wardrobe secrets, special recipes, and entertaining ideas. This is so cliche' but I was totally inspired to finally start my blog after watching that silly, but so wonderful movie - Julie and Julia. I loved the movie, so fun to watch but what I really took away was this: Do something you love every single day!

Q: What do I love?
A: Beautiful design, comfortable living, great food, sweet treats, entertaining friends and family and classic American style.

I do not have a 365 day plan. I figure that with work, a family, a four year old son, a dog, a cat and a household to manage - I'd better just take it one day at a time.
Here's the plan: Discover something wonderful every day.
I'll post anything that I find inspirational. Images that are just simply beautiful, recipes that are easy and delicious, and trends that I can't resist. I hope that the collection of treasures will feed my design soul, and who knows - I may find a few new things to love.
Happy blogging!
